When I was advised that I needed an operation for a bunion I was quite apprehensive. Two members of my family had previously undergone an operation for bunions and had been confined to a wheelchair for six week following surgery. I was referred to West Valley Hospital and was fortunate enough to be placed under the care of Mr K Kunasingham. (Mr K K) At the initial consultation he explained the procedure and advised that I would be back in my trainers in two weeks. He told me that he was going to do the procedure by key hole surgery, a less invasive method than the traditional method, key hole surgery would also reduce the recovery time, Mr KK was true to his word. Two weeks after the operation I was wearing my trainers and walking extremely well. At no time did I need crutches or pain relief medication that the hospital provided. Follow up appointments and after care went smoothly and I was seen by Mr KK at all appointments. I cannot thank him enough for providing clear information and putting me at ease throughout my experience. I would thoroughly recommend Mr KK for anyone who needs to have bunion surgery.

I had an arthritic joint in my foot which had ultimately failed to respond to steroid injections. I became unable to walk very far and had to give up golf. I felt quite depressed. Mr.Kunasingam suggested surgery and I am delighted with the result. It took a while but I am now able to play golf again, go for long walks with my grandchildren and generally as good as new again. Pain free. I honestly did not expect such a full recovery. Mr. Kunasingam was very kind and helpful all the way through pre and post-surgery. Highly recommended by me.

I had an operation on my left foot on 13th September which went very well. On the 10th day after the operation I was able to go out for a short walk and get on a bus and I did not need my crutches. Today the bandages have been removed and everything looks good. I highly recommend this surgeon and hospital, very good treatment and the staff are all brilliant.

I had put off bunion surgery as I had been told it was very painful however over the last year it had become obvious that I needed to have it done and spoke to my Doctor about surgery. After an initial process of different consultations I met Mr Kumar Kunasingam. He explained the key hole surgery procedure and ensured I understood completely what would happen and my expected recovery rate. I went into Epsom hospital at 7am and was on my way home about 3pm, having already walked on the operated foot with the aid of crutches to help steady me for that day. From the next day I had no need of the crutches, following all instructions given as to rest, ice packs and painkillers when needed and had minimal pain. 5 weeks after surgery I met a lady who had also had Bunion surgery, however it was not keyhole, with a different surgeon and at a different hospital and our differences were amazing. I was in stretchy trainers and though walking carefully had no need for a walking aid. She however was in pain, had the surgical sandal and needed a walking stick and had a 4-5 inch scar which ran down the side of her foot with a light gauze pad covering it. In comparison I have 5 small scars that are healing and fading well. I feel very lucky that Mr Kunasingam was my consultant and performed keyhole surgery on my Bunion. I am now looking forward to having my other Bunion removed by him soon.
